Teaching Reiki from an Ebook

A colleague of mine suggested that you could never teach Reiki from an ebook. Now I believe that the word "never" is too inhibiting so without thinking too much I said "I can" and now I'm writing an ebook on on the Healing Art of Reiki.

Well, I now wish that I hadn't risen to that challenge. We all know what an ebook is, it's an electronic book. Instead of writing on paper you type into a word document (or a similar program) and then transfer it to a program that's like a pdf. file. This file is then transferable over the Internet but it is locked- meaning that it cannot be altered by the reader.

Anyway, that wasn't the difficult bit; you can teach Reiki in book (or ebook) form. You can teach the student various techniques to clear their mind of the clutter of everyday life, how to energise a room, how to see and feel auras, you can show hand positions and you can offer advice on how to approach friends and family for subjects on which to practice. All that the ebook needed to do was to act as a guide to practising Reiki. No one is going to be a master of any craft unless he/she has studied more than one manual and trained under a few teachers.

The difficult bit is where to start and where to stop. For a lot of people Reiki is the most accessible of the Healing Arts. You can usually find a workshop in any town or city these days where you can partake in a day's course with outstanding results. After you've taken your first steps on your journey you quickly begin to see the view- and it's expansive. There are many paths you can take like crystal healing, holistic healing, healing the emotions of grief and loss, healing dog, cats and horses. This was one of the problems that I encountered- once I had started to look at how to teach Reiki in ebook form I didn't know where to finish. Furthermore when learning from a manual the student will often have problems that they cannot overcome without a guide. A manual rarely comes with support and this was the biggest hurdle for me. How do I get support to the student and it almost made me give up my challenge. You see, I wanted the student to have the contact time that they need. The student often needs guidance with their practice and an online ebook simply cannot offer that. So, yes, you can teach Reiki from an ebook but it is important to take a class or two so that you don't fall into bad habits and you have the benefits of conversing with, and the guidance of, a master Reiki practitioner.

You can read how I started my Reiki ebook by clicking the link below. However I gave up because I devised a greater plan.

About the author: I'm not writing an ebook any more, I'm trying to create a course where you the student can learn the basics (and more) and have weekly contact with a Reiki Master to help you through any problems that you might come across. A Reiki Ebook is being edited as I write and so if you're interested then bookmark the link and come back every week or so after September '09 because I'm going to post sections of it for feedback from the public.

There are so many healing therapies out there thes
